The Arts are slowly dying…and do you know why? Because no one supports them anymore! I don’t know if it’s because it’s too expensive, or people don’t have time or whatever, but the Arts are dying. This Christmas, I want you to find a local performance of some kind to get tickets for and take your whole family. It doesn’t have to be expensive—heck, it doesn’t even have to cost money! There are a lot of local dance companies, churches and community groups that put on Christmas shows, ballets, or plays, and some of them don’t even charge!
If you are in the Colorado Springs area, there are plenty of things to do this weekend. If you have daughters, I highly recommend going to a performance of The Nutcracker. If you aren’t aware of any, my daughters just happen to be performing in one this weekend! One of my daughters is the Snow Queen, one is the Sugar Plum Fairy and one is an Arabian dancer/Snow soloist. Performances will be Friday and Saturday night (December 9th and 10th) at 7pm at Mitchell High school. If you are interested in coming, please let me know and I will give you all the pertinent information. Tickets can still be purchased, so let me know!
Another performance this weekend is at New Life Church. They put on a wonderful Christmas show called “Wonderland”. They have ice skaters, singers, a choir, an orchestra and best of all….Jack and Colby, the ridiculously funny emcees!
This show is totally free, but be prepared to either a) arrive really early to get a seat or b) find someone to get there early and save you seats! Also be prepared for the crazy exit from the parking lot afterwards! It’s a wonderful show, but I sure do miss the Parsley Brothers! One of my favorite parts is the drumming performance of Little Drummer Boy. I can guarantee you’ve never seen anything like it (unless, of course, you’ve been to Wonderland)…Enjoy!
If you aren’t in Colorado Springs, look through your local newspaper to find Christmas related performances in your area. Please support the Arts in your area. One last performance to enjoy…
