About Me!

Hi, and welcome to my blog!  My name is Monica, and if we are going to be friends, (and I hope we will be!) there are some things you should know about me:

First and foremost, I am a born-again Christian.  I gave my life to the Lord when I was a mere 9 years old.  I love God with my whole being!

I am a single mom of 3 beautiful daughters.  This is the BEST job in the whole world, and I can’t think of anything I’d rather be.  My daughters are 21, 17 and 13.  I can’t believe how quickly they have grown and I really dread the day they decide to launch out on their own!  All 3 of them want to be missionaries, so I foresee plenty of traveling in my future.  All 3 of them are ballerinas and I love to watch them dance!  Right now (November) we are in the midst of Nutcracker season, so I hear Sugar Plum Fairies dancing through my head 24/7!  I am the proud mom of 1 Sugar Plum Fairy, 1 Snow Queen and 1 Clara!

I am a TV-holic!  I love just about any show that is about doctors, lawyers, medical examiners, cops, or survivors (Survivor is my favorite show of all time!).  I also love old movies—Doris Day ones being my absolute favorites!

I am a professional photographer.  I have loved taking pictures since I was first introduced to my mom’s Brownie camera back in the late 60’s (I couldn’t spell “brownie”, but I sure wanted one!).  I specialize in high school seniors, but I will shoot anything that doesn’t shoot me first!

I love to craft.  I’ve had the sewing bug since my 7th grade Home Ec class when I won 1st place in the project contest.   I knew I was hooked when I saw my creation (a groovy wrap around dress), hanging on a mannequin, in the school showcase.  When my girls were little, I made crafts as a way to make extra money.  If I needed some extra money, I’d make a few things and run them over to my aunt’s beauty shop and all her little old ladies would buy them up!  Since my husband and I separated, and I had to go back to work, I haven’t had the time I did back then to craft and I really missed it!  Lately, I started crafting again, and I must say, I still enjoy it very much.

I originally started this blog to share my love of Christmas with you all, but realized quite quickly after the holidays that a blog about Christmas would only last for, oh, about 6 weeks!!  So my strategy has now changed and I realize that I want to be able to share a lot of different things…so I changed the name of my blog to something that will stand the test of time.   I hope you will stick with me and continue to let a little bit of Monica into your life!
